The musical Lion King follows the fate of the little lion cub Simba, who prematurely is forced to face his role of leading as the King of the Pride Lands due to the tragedy that befalls his father, Mufasa. Mufasa, who is a well-loved leader by the animals of his lands, gets stabbed in the back by from Scar, Simba’s uncle, which leads to his death. This forces the young prince into to escape for years on end, and this is where the Prince's long journey and his subsequent homecoming to The Pride Lands and his seat on the throne.

Taken from the late 1994 motion picture of the the very same name created by Disney, The Lion King was beautifully adapted to the Broadway stage by director Julie Taymor and the unbelievable ensemble and production crew. Its premiere in 1997 was a testament to its success, being received positively by critics.
