From the moment of the play's inception more than 40 years ago, Les Misérables has risen up from becoming a small unknown production running in Paris to one of the most top-rated and hit musicals in the eyes of local and international audiences. Over the past century that the play has been ongoing, Les Misérables has been performed in 53 countries, in 22 different languages, and has been drawing in more and more theatergoers all over the world.

In November, the musical’s next season brings it to a new location in Hartford, where the celebrated musical will be held in Mortensen Hall at Bushnell Theatre on Saturday 2nd November 2024. Mortensen Hall at Bushnell Theatre was made to be a landmark of the city as the top entertainment venue of Hartford, containing a well-crafted stage and seating setup that is big enough to have a play of this level, as well as adequate facilities that are available inside the venue.

The musical is centered on the tale of Jean Valjean, a parolee distressingly wanting to start anew after he gets away from the law. His entire story, and his ultimate fate, are put on fully through song from the beginning to the finish of the musical. Les Mis being sung from start to finish is a clever manner of execution that this play has over other known Broadway productions, and is the chief reason why each individual song performance always stuns its viewers, depicting each personal struggle in every phrase or lyric sung.

It's no wonder that due to this style, the show is also filled with impressive dramatic performances. Interestingly, in the face of the collection of numbers that can be watched in the show, each character in the play is given their own spotlight, with each individual ballad showing the vocal range of each actor. Neither theatergoers nor film viewers of Les Mis can fail to recall Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, which carries with the song a deep tragedy and has been performed countlessly by other artists in present-day cinema. “Bring Him Home” also emotionally closes out the conflict in our beloved characters, subtly showing us the redemption of the main character in a single completely incredible song.

The globally-acclaimed musical will only be running in Mortensen Hall at Bushnell Theatre, Hartford for a limited period and on Saturday 2nd November 2024; seats are now available for purchase via our ticketing partner by using the links that can be found on top of this page.
